Well, I woke up this morning at our absolute favorite summer vacation location of all. We arrived Saturday morning. That day and yesterday were GORGEOUS! The sun, the soft breeze, and the waves were mesmerizing.

Then, this morning…

This is what we woke up to. “We” is my adorable husband, our precious daughter, her sweet husband, and me. Every year we come to this same location for a week of R&R. Now and then the weather can take a few minutes’ turn to dreary or even spit a few drops of rain. But today is like nothing I have ever seen. It is dark, the skies are one mass of ominous-looking clouds, raining like there’s no tomorrow, and after five minutes, the guys came in from their attempt to have a morning swim to report that although the waves are perfect, the ocean water was outrageously cold, and they almost succumbed to bodily freezing when they came out of the water.

I decided to document it with this picture, but while I was taking it, my cute husband said that he thought it was far too dark to take any pictures. I explained to him, of course, that that was the point!

So… rather than today being a day of “fun in the sun,” I will be staying inside and writing like there’s no tomorrow! (The good news is that Fixing His Broken Ballerina: Volume 1 should be completed just that much sooner!)
